Zel is a chemical engineering undergraduate senior at Columbia University in a dual-degree program with St. Lawrence University, where he studied chemistry. In the Boyce Lab, his research focuses on hydrogen production in aluminum–water reactors. He previously conducted research in polymeric materials at UCLA and in experimental fluid dynamics at École Polytechnique in France. His broader research interests lie at the intersection of fluid mechanics and soft matter.
